Young the Giant 'Cough Syrup (Official Video)'

Sorry I haven't been posting lately ya'll, I've been busy with work and not on my grind to find new music to post for you all, but I'm back so let's get to it. I've been on this band Young the Giant (more when they were known as The Jakes) for a few years now, and today while I just so happened to be watching MTV this morning and I was watching the end of the video for 'Cough Syrup' which I was taken aback by because I had no idea there was a video for this. This is the first time I've seen a Young the Giant or The Jakes music video, and I can really dig what they did here. I wasn't sure how they'd visualize the song, but I like it. I've also seen a few of their live performances and they also perform live very well. An amazing band ya'll should deff check out.

Beyoncé 'Girls (Who Run the World) (Full Version)'

New music from the Queen, Beyoncé is finally here. The new single entitled 'Girls (Who Run the World)' is different from the music we've heard from Beyoncé in the past years, and I've been reading some mixed reviews on the song, but personally I love it. It's I guess you would say "popish," but I think it's just really upbeat and fun and a track for all the girls out there that run the world. This is the full version of the song and I honestly can not wait to hear what more she has to offer on her new album as well. The song to me is one of those empowering songs for us girls to let our male counterparts know who run the world. We got it going on and thanks to Bey we have our own theme song now. So next time someone gets confused on who runs the world, just shout 'GIRLS.'

Willow Smith '21st Century Girl'

So Willow Smith, daughter of Will & Jada aka Miss Whip My Hair, has recently released a new track to feed her fans since the drop of the smash 'Whip My Hair.' The song is called '21st Century Girl' and after giving it a listen, I'm not 100% sure how I feel about it. Yes I know she's really young, and still probably finding herself in the music industry, but I'm not really feeling the techno-y type song she has here. The song '21st Century Girl' does match her personality, or the persona she wants to display with her different taste in fashion, and I believe it does describe what she is doing in life right now, however it is not something I'd bump on my iPod anytime soon. I'm not trying to bash the song, I mean it is something that I think the tweens and teens will enjoy (yes I am still a teenager as well), but me personally, I want a little bit more substance in the songs I listen to. Like I said before, with the right guidance she will definitely become a very great artist and when she finds her voice and style as she continues to grow, she will be a force in the music industry to reckon with. I might post a download link for the song later, but for now here's '21st Century Girl' and let me know what you think.

*update* Actually the song is supposed to officially drop on Oprah tomorrow (March 1st, 2011) and be on iTunes so I'll drop a download link to buy the song tomorrow.

J. Vill 'Ride With Me (Rusko/Tom Stephen/J.Vill)'

Some new J. Vill a Chillin Villains Premier Artist. Seriously he's blowing up in the underground college music scene, so let's see J. Vill blow up in that mainstream light. He's repping New York to the fullest, and definitely puts in a lot in his music. His style is a little pop, hip hop, electronica (kinda not really, well I think), and it's just something for everybody to rock with. If you're a fan of the college rappers, or just need more music to bump then definitely download 'Ride With Me' and be sure to tell all your friends where you heard it first. The song is the first leak off of his new mixtape "40's & High Class Shorties" dropping soon (I'll update when I have a date). The beat for 'Ride With Me' is one of those like techno-y kind of beats complimented by the singing of Rusko (?), and then just brought home by J. Vill over the mic. I'm actually not sure where to download the song for now, but still listen/drop a comment for now, and I'll update you all with the link.

The Hoodies 'All I Want For Christmas Is You (Cover)'

I heard this song about two years ago off of this band called The Hoodies' music pages, and I just loved the cover they did of Mariah Carey's hit song (one of her many hits) 'All I Want For Christmas Is You.' I think it's that the role is reversed in who's singing the song just makes me love it more, but they really did do an amazing cover of the song. Their voices, the instruments, the bells ringing, the harmony it's just a great song. If you loved Mariah's version of the song, then you will definitely love The Hoodies' version. I was trying to look them up and what not, but I guess apparently the band I knew as The Hoodies are now Joy Wave. I'm not sure what happened with the original band, but I wish them all the best and success with Joy Wave. If you were a fan of The Hoodies or never had a chance to listen to any of their tunes, then enjoy this cover of 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' by the fireplace and may you have a wonderful Christmas.

Paramore Band Members Leave Group

I just found out that two members, brothers Josh and Zac, guitar and drum players for the band respectively, have decided to leave the famous Pop/Punk band Paramore. They knew that the brothers would leave after their show this past Sunday, and unfortunately this is devastating for Paramore fans, but the group still looks to tour, and move on as a band. The remaining members, lead singer Hayley Williams, bassist Jeremy Davis and guitar player Taylor York wish the brothers the best of luck in whatever projects they are a part of. As a Paramore fan myself, I do wish the best of luck to the band and Josh and Zac in whatever paths they may take now.

'Made Up Stories' by Go:Audio

I heard this song like a few years ago, and for some reason I was like I want to listen to this song today. Good for me (and ya'll) because it's such a catchy like break up song (not to make breaking up something good..?), but it's idk how to explain it, but the song is amazing. A little different from my recent posts on here, but diversity is good right? (LOL). Unfortunately Go:Audio broke up :( I'm not sure when this unfortunate break up occurred, but let's remember this awesome group by watching their video for 'Made Up Stories.'

Better Than Her feat. Akon

The song was leaked/released (whatever you wanna call it) in april (something like that), but I came across it mad late at night last night so I couldn't put it up, but the song's called 'Better Than Her' by Matisse featuring Akon. Apparently she's one of his new artists and I like what they did on this song. It's mad poppy (like popish) and I can deff hear this played on the radio... She (Matisse) kind of sounds like Lady Gaga to me, idk I just kind of get that vibe, probs cause Gaga jumped on the scene with Akon and just blew up and her first single was this dance/pop song and this reminds me of it. This should get plenty of radio time in the near future, not sure how to determine how well she'd do because I don't know much about her, but this song is a great start off point for her. Akon really knows how to create hits and sign amazing artists. Well I've dragged on long enough, here's 'Better Than Her.'

The Record Life

So I thought I'd switch it up with the genre of music (no I'm not trying to be appealing to the masses, but just to show the range and variety of my taste in music). His name is Jakob or Jake and he goes by The Record Life and he has SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE. I've been on him for about a year now and I just keep coming back to his song 'Not the Same.' The instruments blend so perfectly and his vocals really bring the song to life. Let me know what you think.

Grrr unfortunately I can't embed the video from YouTube onto here so, no worries here's another song by The Record Life called 'Step On Your Own.'
