KiD CuDi Quits Smoking Weed & Performs 'Marijuana' On Stage

If you don't already know, the Man on the Moon, Mr. Rager aka KiD CuDi has announced he quit smoking weed. To some it may be very shocking, but if you listen to why he made this important decision in his life you can understand why. CuDi sites his often use of the drug, and how he was missing out on very important moments in his life because of his use of Marijuana and has decided to take a step back and not use the drug anymore. I applaud Cudders for this decision, and we all know he will still be our Lonely Stoner even if he's not smoking weed. I hope you all can respect his decision and continue to support Cudders as he continues to make that good good music for us, and give us those awesome live performances. Along with his decision to quiet smoking, CuDi performs his song 'Marijuana' off of his "Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager" album. Enjoy.

Kanye West & KiD CuDi 'Gorgeous (SXSW Surprise Show)'

Back to the music you all love. So Kanye West has been rumored to be performing at the SXSW concert festival in Austin this past Saturday, March 19, and among the different songs he performed was the song 'Gorgeous' featuring G.O.O.D. Music labelmate KiD CuDi. The song is off of Yeezy's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album released November of 2010, and I've heard the song maybe once before and just listening to it again makes me love Kanye West and his music. The original features Raekwon along with CuDi, and it's just an all around great track that displays the emotion he's felt from the critics, and he even references the writers/creators of South Park in the song. CuDi lends his talents for the hook of the song along with the written thoughts of Kanye over the melodic beat which creates something special called 'Gorgeous.' The sound quality of the song is not as great, but if I find a better version, I'll deff post it up for you all. In the meantime check out Kanye West & KiD CuDi's performance of 'Gorgeous' at the SXSW Vevo Power Plant Surprise Show.

Clare Maguire 'I Need A Dollar (Live Acoustic Cover)'

I've heard the beat for this song 'I Need A Dollar' which I thought before was just something that a couple of DJ's came up with for Yelawolf to put in work over on a freestyle for that track, which I thought he killed. However, I've been seeing a few of these 'I Need A Dollar' freestyles which I thought they were just sampling the beat Yelawolf used or it was a completely different song. I was wrong and there is an original song called 'I Need A Dollar' by Aloe Blacc which apparently is the theme song for the show "How to Make it in America" which stars KiD CuDi (and a show that I've been meaning to check out). The original is a heart felt song that talks about how we all are in search of that dollar, or the riches in life, and how we try so hard to achieve such financial success yet don't realize what it does to the world around us. This cover is done by Clare Maguire live at "The Sun Biz Session" who does an amazing cover of Aloe Blacc's song, and the guy on the guitar and the other guy beatboxing make the song even better.

"Hey Hey, if god has plans for me i hope it aint written in stone
Hey Hey because i've been working working myself down to the bone
and i swear on grandpas grave I'll be paid when i come home"

Tyler the Creator & Hodgy Beats 'Sandwitches (Live on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon)'

I possibly introduced you guys to a member of Odd Future, Tyler the Creator, with his song 'Yonkers' which will be featured on his upcoming tape "Goblins" and just last night/early this morning he was performing on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" along with another Odd Future member Hodgy Beats with the band The Roots doing the instrumentals. I couldn't stay up last night to watch the performance live, but I did just check it out and it is incredible. These guys bring the dopeness, originality and hype performances to live shows. They both brought the energy and the crowd was obviously into the song, and fans of Odd Future. The song 'Sandwiches' I believe is a new song that they dropped because I can't seem to find an unlive version of it yet, but I'll keep looking There is a non live full version of the song out, and it's something that you don't hear as much in the mainstream music. They keep it real on the song and spit some crazy stuff on the track. The Odd Future movement is blowing up and amazing success is coming their way very soon. I don't think I've seen a live performance as exciting and wild as this one which shows that they really are into the music they make. #FreeEarl

Tracy Chapman 'Fast Car (Live)'

I've heard this song countless times before, but I've never looked up who sang it and what not, but today this acapella group came and sung for us at school today, and one of the songs they did was 'Fast Car.' I was amazed by how well they did it, and the song was stuck in my head afterwards. It's just an amazing song just content wise with the story it tells about love and a relationship that can't really take off because of problems in the relationship that keep it from blossoming. Just listening to her sing it live gives it even more emotion, and the more I listen to it I feel as though I can understand her pain even though I've never gone through anything similar. This is one of those songs that have so much meaning and can be related to by so many different people. This song will live forever.

"I know things will get better
You'll find work and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter

Nina Simone 'Four Women'

I've never heard the song before until hearing it at the end of the movie "For Colored Girls" when I saw it with my mom in theaters, and she told me what the name of the song was and who sung it. 'Four Women' is such a deep song about four different Black women all with different skin colors, hair types, etc. Within each verse, Ms. Simone sings about a different woman and tells a different story about each one. This one song displays the different struggles faced by Black woman not just then when the song came out, but it can be related to even today. As a Black woman (young woman) I can hear and feel the story Nina Simone wanted to get across in this song and the pain that comes with being Black. If you haven't seen the movie "For Colored Girls" I highly recommend it to all, white, black, hispanic, what have you because it tells the many different struggles of different Black women with varying social and economic positions and their similarities. I hope that you all can enjoy this classic song by Nina Simone, and can try to understand what it is she is trying to get across to those that truly listen to 'Four Women.'

Robyn "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart (Cover)"

I've been looking for something fresh to put up here for you guys for quite sometime now (sorry for the lack of music ya'll) and I stumbled upon this gem. Robyn is a Swedish pop star, who kind of reminds me of a more laid back almost version of P!nk (maybe it's just the hair, but she does to me). I'm reading her bio right now and I can also tell ya'll that she gained fame in 1997 with her song "Show Me Love" and now has fame not only in Sweden, but all over the world. This song I'm posting is a cover she did live at iheartradio in late July of this year, and she absolutely put her heart and soul in "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart." I do like the original Alicia Keys version, but this one actually made me cry the first time hearing it. This is my first time hearing about Robyn and I just adore everything she did on this cover, she made it her own, and the background music (drums/piano) just gives the song this more personal (i guess thats the word I'm looking for) kind of feel, and allows you to really hear and feel Robyn as she sings. Great cover and you will definitely enjoy it as well.

VersaEmerge 'Find Your Love (Cover)'

I've been in LOVEEE with this band for quite some time now, but I hadn't checked them out in forever so I decided to see what was up with the band and I stumbled onto this jewell. I'm not a fan of the original verion/Drake, but this cover is unbelievably good, Sierra's voice is UH-MAZ-ING and Blake sounds soooo good on here. If you don't know/haven't heard of VersaEmerge, I suggest you do some research and get to know them.
