Calligraphist 'Feel it in the Air'

Shoutouts to George Calligraphist for submitting me his music (sorry for the wait in the posting, I've been super busy recently), but here we go. Calligraphist is an underground rapper who brings back the actual lyrics side of rapping in his music. He strives to bring that thought provoking and hard hitting music back to the game with a sound thats his own. His deep voice adds to the music he's putting out and allows you to sit and really listen to what it is he's saying. His remix to Beanie Sigel's 'Feel it in the Air' track is amazing, I usually don't listen to remixes of this song because I do believe Beanie killed it, and the original is a hard act to follow, but I honestly believe that Calligraphist did a great job on this. It's a brief track, and like he says, all he wants you to do is listen. He raps about the struggle it is in this hard music industry and how it's harder for him to make it, but I think he does have a chance. Check out 'Feel it in the Air' and support Calligraphist.

Jadakiss & Styles P 'Otis (Freestyle)'

We all knew it was bound to happen, a million and one different remixes to Kanye & Jay-Z's track 'Otis,' and there has been a few somewhat remixes, freestyles whatever you wanna call it to the song that are decent and somewhat listenable. One of them happens to be the version that Jadakiss & Styles P released. I don't know what it is, but their wordplay is crazy and their like flows together idk how to explain it, but they can finish each other's sentences very well. I like it when they do music together, and they always know how to take someone else's song and make it as good or even better than the original version. Take a listen to their version of 'Otis' and you can't tell me they didn't do the darn thang over the beat.

Adele 'Rolling in the Deep (Jamie xx Remix)(Feat. Childish Gambino)'

I honestly don't know what I waited so long before I checked out Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino's music. If you haven't heard of Childish Gambino, I highly suggest that you take some time out of your busy lives and listen to some of his stuff. I'll start ya'll off with this remix he did of Adele's 'Rolling in the Deep' (which might I add is already perfect in and of itself), but Childish flipped the beat and his verse really blended in this new version to make something even catchier for those hip hop heads that were hesitant on listening to the original version. Donald Glover is an actor along with being a rapper and plays on the television show "Community" so check him out either on tv or doing his thing on the music scene.

Paperface 'She's Like A Star (feat. Prep Star) (Remix)'

Paperface, out of the New Jersey area, and he brings an original style to the music game, not just musically, but with his style. The name "Paperface" is to be taken literally for he wears a paperbag over his face as a way to hid his true identity. He tries to come up with different answers to the ever so popular question as to "Why?" and I think I may have one take on this. I'm only speculating, but maybe it's to keep attention to his music and what he has to offer, rather than focusing on his outer appearance and judging him before taking a second to see what he has to offer. I mean that's just me but let's get back to the music. The song 'She's Like A Star' which features Prep Star, is a remix of Taio Cruz's original song by the same name, and Paperface puts his spin on the song and adds a little comedy as well with the video. The song is about calling that special someone your "star" the one who's above everything to you, but Paperface (in the video) takes it one further and tells two girls that they are his star which leads to an argument between the two young ladies at the end. An overall great video from and the verses are well written and I can't wait to check out more music from Paperface in the future. If you're looking to check Paperface out in concert he's been doing shows in the New York/New Jersey and Philadelphia are so be on the look out.

T-Pain 'Motivated (feat. Case)' [Motivated Contest]

If you haven't heard, T-Pain has/had not sure if it's still going on, but there's this contest he put out for people to spit a verse to his unfinished song 'Motivated' and if you win the contest then he'll feature you on his upcoming mixtape or album something along those lines. I haven't really been paying much attention to this contest, until now. I stumbled upon this guy by the name of Case and heard his remix to the song, and I think you all should hear what he offered to the song. The song 'Motivated' itself sounds great, and I honestly can't wait to hear the finished version, and hopefully Case will be the guy featured on that track. He's an up and coming rapper out the Canada, and a self proclaimed photographer, rapper, singer and producer. Don't sleep on this kid or you'll miss his name up in lights.

Hathbanger 'Deadly Combination (Tupac, Big L & Notorious B.I.G. Remix)'

I just found this like an hour or so ago, and I honestly can't stop playing it. It's the song 'Deadly Combination' by Tupac and Big L (not sure if they actually did the track together or if it was just blended), and the Notorious B.I.G. over a sick mix put together by Hathbanger. I've never heard the original song before, but this remix will leave you coming back for more. Tupac and Biggie Smalls both well known rappers from opposite ends of the US who were integral parts in the rap game and influenced a LARGE majority of those in the music industry now. Big L who I was introduced to by my brother is another rapper who had an amazing talent on the microphone and who's talents are not as appreciated as some other artists today. This mixes so well with the song and it's something that more people need to know about. If I can find a download for this song I will update this post and add it for ya'll.

ShiGGa Shay feat. Valentina Chua 'Coming Home (Remix)'

ShiGGa Shay a up and coming teen rapper out of Singapore has been doing his thing musically for quite some time now, and I heard/watched a video of him for one of his songs on another site, and I just caught this one he did over Diddy-Dirty Money's 'Coming Home' song. I've heard a few remixes to the song, but none really stand out to me like this one. Valentina Chua does a great job doing a cover over the chorus of the song, and ShiGGa Shay brings it home with his verses. My only complaint would be the sound of his voice, it has this "I need to clear my throat" kind of sound to it, but still a good go at remixing the song. ShiGGa has a mixtape out called "ShiGGa Shay's in the Building (The Mixtape)" so I recommend you all go out and download that if you like what he did on 'Coming Home' and would like to hear some original stuff that he has. Just listening to some of his stuff, he sounds like he has some great promise, and I wish the best of luck to him and his music career.

Chet Haze 'White and Purple (Northwestern Remix)'

So this is some BREAKING news, apparently Tom Hanks' son who goes to Northwestern is a rapper, he raps or what have you and he remixed Wiz Khalifa's 'Black and Yellow' to create a tribute to his school Northwestern called 'White and Purple.' Me personally, I think it's alright, I'm tired of all the remixes to the song because nothing can top the original or Carlos St. John's monster of a track called 'Perfect' over the the 'Black and Yellow' instrumental. If only people would realize that some songs are fine the way they are and there is no need to remix it. Take a listen to Chet Haze's 'White and Purple' and let me know what you think of it. If you are interested in hearing more from Mr. Haze, he just dropped an original track entitled 'West Side LA' so take a listen and download if you like it here.

KiD CuDi 'Marijuana (Remix/Cover)'

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE! I hope that everyone had a great New Years. Let me know what ya'll did in the comment section if you'd like to share. To celebrate the new year I thought I'd drop a song off of KiD CuDi's latest album, "Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager," which might I add is a must have for all CuDi fans. The song and mind you I don't do the drug he's singing about, but it still is an amazing, really mellow song. Boldly titled 'Marijuana' CuDi uses his creativity to not boast about his "mary jane" habbits, but to highlight his use to keep the good times coming. The album has many great songs for all different moods you might be in, but this song keeps coming back to me. The fact that it is four minutes and 20 seconds also adds to the amazingness of the song. However, instead of giving you guys the track thats been put out everywhere I decided to put up this sweet cover by a YouTuber by the name of "jaron21." I like his voice on the track and it's not as slow as the original but it still has the emotion the original track gives off.

J.Vill 'Something Crazy' (Wynter Gordon Remix)

So my mans J.Vill (A ChillinVillains Premiere Artist) sent me the track like a week ago, but I was mad lazy to put it up (sorry lol). But the track is called 'Something Crazy' and it is something crazy lol. But really I think (not really sure) it's an original track by Wynter Gordon (another group/artist I believe) and JVill did his thing on the track (I might be totally wrong so don't quote me on it lol). It's like/it IS a party song to get hype to if you play it up all the way. Like I can see thing being played in the club on a friday or saturday night (or whenever you people go out to party lol) and everyone just going crazy. Enough blabbing check out 'Something Crazy.'

Take My Eyes Off Of You (Remix)

So I know I was supposed to post this like right after I posted the original song by Lauryn Hill 'Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You,' but I was mad lazy/I needed to go to bed so I never got around to it, and I wanted to to the days afterward but still laziness was a huge contributor, but this is a remix to the cover Lauryn Hill did by Theophilus London whom I blogged about a while ago...I love his version, but if only he had continued rapping and did a full remix version of the song because that verse he did was beautiful. Just thoughts, tell me what you think. FYI this is off of his "The Charming Mixtape" mixtape if ya'll were interested (and like before I was supposed to do a mixtape review, no worries it will be coming shortly)

I'm So Appalled (Music Video)

No this isn't the official Kanye West 'I'm So Appalled' music video for the full song just released last night, but it's Gilbere Forte's version (if the name sounds familiar it should because he was featured on the 'Alors On Danse (remix)' I posted a while ago) which I think he went in on... The version that was released yesterday I like (But won't download, idk not good enough for me to run out and download, which is kinda why I don't post Kanye's friday weekly drops or whatever they're called), but I was wondering why it sounded like he was rapping right into the mic like it just doesn't sound fully mastered to me. But that's besides the point, Gilbere Forte did his thing on 'I'm So Appalled' so watch and let me know what you think.

I Hope She Cheats On You (Remix)

OMG, I heard this song just a few hours ago and WOW. It's funny yet catchy, almost like Maino and Fabolous remixed this as a joke, but the verses are fire. Fab's verse destroys it all and the hook is crazy nice. I can deff see this song being played on the radio, and I can also see it getting a lot of hate for the song, but I like it...Once you listen you'll deff want to download and play it 24/7. I'm not a huge Marsha Ambrosius fan, I've heard of her through a Bangledash mixtape a few years ago, but I never really paid attention to her, but I guess apparently she lost some weight and came with this banger. Without further ado here's 'I Hope She Cheats On You (Remix) by Marsha Ambrosius feat. Fabolous and Maino.

F*** You (Remix)

Cee-Lo (one half of Gnarls Barkley) came out recently with a new song titled, 'F*** You' which I heard on the radio the other day and I just LOVEEE it, well I just got hip to a remix done by Joell Ortiz and he kills it. Read More to listen...This is just a great collab and Joell really does his thing on the remix. Unlike some, he really sticks with the content/message (i guess you can call it) of the song.

Wavin' Flag Remix

So I was just in the mood to listen to K'naan's 'Wavin' Flag' and I got to wondering if anybody had done a remix (not the whole World Cup stuff or Will.I.Am stuff just someone not so well known) and I came across this version of the song which is the Nigeria Remix by M.I. & Banky W. I don't know too much about them, but I do know they did do a wonderful cover even though I like the other chorus "When I get older, I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom just like a wavin' flag"<--that version compared to the newer one, but thats just me.
