Rykkinfellabeats 'Speedy'

I first heard of the artist and was like what? But following the advice of a "friend" we'll say, I checked it out and the song is amazing. It samples Brenton Wood's 'Gimme Little Sign' and I have just fallen in love with the instrumental. I wanted to listen to the original version and J Dilla's 'Signs' and the original was sung beautifully by Brenton Wood and I just love how Rykkinfellabeats and J Dilla have masterfully sampled the song. The original has this soulful vibe to it, while this version, 'Speedy' keeps the same instrumental, but is more, I'm not sure how to phrase this, but it's more mastered and sped up more than the original. The song is less lyrics and singing, and more instrumental which makes it even more catchy to listen to. I don't know much about Rykkinfellabeats but I think he's a German artist (my second German related artist on here), and this song is a great display of his talent.

Kanye West feat. Rick Ross, Jay-Z & Nicki Minaj 'Monster (Official Video)'

I've never really been a fan of this song, I mean it is good, but not a fan. The song itself is pretty dark content-wise and the video brought that darkness out as well. The whole illuminati and Kanye West thing is whatever you want to believe, I myself don't want to take part in it, but you can let me know what you think. I do like Kanye West's music, especially his older stuff. The video love it or hate it it's interesting and open for interpretation. The only part I didn't like (not to be biased) was Nicki Minaj's part only because the rest of the song was dark and her part was just more hyped up and didn't flow with the rest of the song. Let me know what ya'll thought.

BIG CuDi NEWS!

I just thought I'd inform you all that the day has finally come. I've just purchased KiD CuDi's "Man on the Moon: The END of DAY" and "Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager" today, both deluxe edition with all the extras and amazingness that you can't get with the regular edition. I'm gonna listen to both albums all the way through (there are some songs I haven't heard before on both albums) and then give my own reviews of the album, I'll try to make them as unbiased as I can, but what can I say, every CuDi song I hear is gold.

Asher Roth & Nottz Raw "The Rawth EP"

So the long anticipated mixtape/EP by Nottz Raw and Asher Roth has finally dropped. The mixtape entitled "The Rawth EP" (Raw and Roth combined incase you didn't catch that lol), has a couple of hot songs like the 'Intro' which is their song 'Dontcha Wanna Be (My Neighbor)' and 'Gotta Get Up.' However, there aren't really other good songs to back up those two songs, I mean sure there's only 8 songs on the EP, but the quality of the songs aren't equally spread. The beats for most have great instrumentals to them with that old school vibe which I love, but the rapping doesn't really do much with the track which I expected.

I do happen to like the songs 'Nothing You Can't Do' and 'Run It Back (remix)' featuring Kardinal Offishall. The production of the mixtape is great, not a whole bunch of DJs talking over tracks, skits and what have you, pretty much a straightforward mixtape, but the rapping was okay to me to say the least.
If I had to rate it I'd give it a strong 7 out of 10 stars.

Carlos St. John "In Association" Mixtape

A Christmas gift from me to you all. The long awaited Carlos St. John "In Association" Mixtape has finally arrived, and just in time for Christmas. For the past few months I've been giving you guys an incredible new track each Tuesday (dubbed Carlost St. John Day) and the mixtape which features each track along with three, yea THREE new songs by Carlos. The two songs are 'Welcome to Real Life' and '12 Flights Up,' along with the finished cuts of 'Hands' and 'Hustler 2.2' (the final "In Association" series track), and as I suspected the final track of 'Hustler 2.2' was a sample of another song. There are 14 songs on the mixtape, and if you want to read my personal opinions on the songs you can check out previous St. John posts here. All in all, if you doubted Mr. St. John before, you won't after you've heard this mixtape, and if that still doesn't win you over or you are a fan and want more music, download his first mixtape "The St. John Portfolio."

'Welcome To Real Life' is one of those real/reflection songs where Carlos gets serious on the track especially in the chorus. It's almost like the struggle that goes with the music industry, and what he's accomplished so far, "I laugh through the stained glass knowing that I own 100% of my Dame Dash/That's creative control lame a**"

'The Brook' I just figured it out, it's short for Brooklyn because as we all know this is Brooklyn's James Bond. The song is more of a track for his hometown of Brooklyn and all that comes in and out of Brooklyn. So if you're from Brooklyn make sure you bump this.

'12 Flights Up' the final track on the mixtape is the outro track and he's pretty much thanking us (The Stockholders) for coming along this ride with him. Him being 12 flights up is another kind of reflection track where he's wondering what direction/where to go next from here. "The money goes fast/the life goes fast/you speedin' through the lights and the lights don't flash" is just one line from the chorus.

The Hoodies 'All I Want For Christmas Is You (Cover)'

I heard this song about two years ago off of this band called The Hoodies' music pages, and I just loved the cover they did of Mariah Carey's hit song (one of her many hits) 'All I Want For Christmas Is You.' I think it's that the role is reversed in who's singing the song just makes me love it more, but they really did do an amazing cover of the song. Their voices, the instruments, the bells ringing, the harmony it's just a great song. If you loved Mariah's version of the song, then you will definitely love The Hoodies' version. I was trying to look them up and what not, but I guess apparently the band I knew as The Hoodies are now Joy Wave. I'm not sure what happened with the original band, but I wish them all the best and success with Joy Wave. If you were a fan of The Hoodies or never had a chance to listen to any of their tunes, then enjoy this cover of 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' by the fireplace and may you have a wonderful Christmas.

Palermo Stone 'Beautiful Music'

The video for this song just captures me, the different scenes, tones, it all just blends so well together along with the song. The chorus is another one of those kind of inspirational songs where it just motivates you to do whatever it is you're trying to accomplish. Palermo Stone, also a type of stone commonly used to inscribe on by the Egyptians, but in this case I'm referring to the rapper/singer, looks to display the struggle and battles he (or up and coming rappers in general) face as they look to make it in this music industry. He raps about him coming up from nothing in order to make something of himself and his music. You can download the album that includes 'Beautiful Music' along with many other dope tracks by Palermo Stone down below. Listen and watch his journey with this 'Beautiful Music.'

Huey Mack feat. Jo Christo 'You're A Star'

I just got a hold of the song, and I can't stop listening to it. It is one of those inspirational songs that gives you motivation to keep on trying and not to give up on your dreams. In a way it reminds me of Young Buck's version of Lupe's song 'Hip Hop Can't Save Me,' just message wise, and the content of both songs. The beat to the song compliments the song in which it isn't too beat crazy, yet not too soft, and the chorus by Jo Christo provides that inspiration to keep on doing whatever it is your doing to reach your goal. I'm definitely loving the song, and I can't wait to hear more Huey Mack music, and what more he has to offer. If you're looking to download the song, it's track 8 on his "Bright Lights and Long Nights Mixtape."

Paramore Band Members Leave Group

I just found out that two members, brothers Josh and Zac, guitar and drum players for the band respectively, have decided to leave the famous Pop/Punk band Paramore. They knew that the brothers would leave after their show this past Sunday, and unfortunately this is devastating for Paramore fans, but the group still looks to tour, and move on as a band. The remaining members, lead singer Hayley Williams, bassist Jeremy Davis and guitar player Taylor York wish the brothers the best of luck in whatever projects they are a part of. As a Paramore fan myself, I do wish the best of luck to the band and Josh and Zac in whatever paths they may take now.

Asher Roth & Nottz 'Gotta Get Up'

New music from Asher Roth and Nottz Raw called 'Gotta Get Up.' So apparently Asher and Nottz are teaming up to give ya'll some new music from them, and I first heard of their amazing duo on the track 'Dontcha Wanna Be My Neighbor' which I did mean to post on here, but time went by, then they dropped a video for it and it wasn't as new so I just didn't post it on here. However, I will do my best to keep you all updated on some new music, because these past few songs haven't been downloadable nor super new. However, this song does not disappoint and for those of you who don't think Asher is a "real" rapper that can make hits other than 'I Love College' then you haven't heard anything other than that song by him. Nottz on the other hand, I can't compare his stuff to any of his other songs because I, personally haven't heard anything else besides these two songs, but from these songs I can tell he definitely has talent. I wish the two the best with this music thing.

'Mamacita, Donde Esta Santa Claus?'

I know I should post this a little closer to Christmas just because of the song, but it came up during Spanish class today and I can't stop listening to it. Today was our official last day before we went on winter break (oh yea) and so for Spanish class we just looked up funny/sad/Christmas related songs and what not on YouTube and one of the songs my teacher mentioned was 'Mamacita, Donde Esta Santa Claus?' While we began looking it up, on of my friends in the class found this video of this little boy lip-synching the song and it is the CUTEST video in the world. Unfortunately after reading the description for the video, it has a very sad story for the young man in the video. As stated, he and his mother passed away after a car crash, and the YouTube account owner has posted videos of his son Jason to keep his memory alive, and this is one of the videos put up. I'm so sorry for the losses he's had to face. May we all cherish the life we have and our loved ones. I hope you all enjoy this wonderful video.

The Cool Kids 'Big Talk (Official Music Video)'

I never got a chance to post the song on here, I only did on the other blog I write for (The ChillinVillains), I wasn't sure at the time if I wanted to post it here or not. I was still trying to figure out how I felt about the song, but I do love it, especially that bass. I mean the bass is crazy, it's deff something you could bump while cruising in your ride (I think I actually said that in the other post I did for the song too lol). You can read my review of the song here, but for the video review. The video is soooo Chicago, Mikey and Chuck rep Chi Town to the fullest (as usual). They're at a Bulls game, decked out in Bulls gear, and everything is just Chicago. I love it, you gotta rep where your from. The wait is over, check out 'Big Talk' here.

*PS* Oh and the picture is/was edited by yours truly.

tabi Bonney 'Get Me/Make A Killin' (Official Video)'

I posted tabi Bonney's 'Make A Killin' song here a while back (read it here), and just saw that the video for the song is now out. It's a cut between two songs, 'Get Me' and 'Make A Killin.' He does just the first verse for the 'Make A Killin' video, but hey atleast I (and you all) have a video to go with the song now right? I wasn't quite sure what direction he'd go with the video, I didn't really have a thought about what the video would look like, but it has this old school flow to it. The car they used is one of those old like Chevy cats, and the women have those retro hairstyles in it. It's interesting, and the video for 'Get Me' is more of that new school video. I like the flip between the styles of the video. Enough talking, check it out for yourself.

Versetyle 'Black and Yellow (Freestyle)'

I've been looking for some new music, and since the mashup of 'Black and Yellow' and 'Teach Me How To Dougie' I posted a while back (listen to it here), and I found this freestyle, (written whatever you wanna call it) by this guy named Versetyle (like Versatile i think) and he absolutely kills it. He's out of the California area, an up and coming rapper and from this track, he does seem to have the talent to go far musically. I just peeped his 'Runaway' freestyle and that too is pretty dope, I'd like to hear something with a chorus on it, but right now he deff is displaying his talent. Good luck to Versetyle and all that he's doing.

Robyn "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart (Cover)"

I've been looking for something fresh to put up here for you guys for quite sometime now (sorry for the lack of music ya'll) and I stumbled upon this gem. Robyn is a Swedish pop star, who kind of reminds me of a more laid back almost version of P!nk (maybe it's just the hair, but she does to me). I'm reading her bio right now and I can also tell ya'll that she gained fame in 1997 with her song "Show Me Love" and now has fame not only in Sweden, but all over the world. This song I'm posting is a cover she did live at iheartradio in late July of this year, and she absolutely put her heart and soul in "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart." I do like the original Alicia Keys version, but this one actually made me cry the first time hearing it. This is my first time hearing about Robyn and I just adore everything she did on this cover, she made it her own, and the background music (drums/piano) just gives the song this more personal (i guess thats the word I'm looking for) kind of feel, and allows you to really hear and feel Robyn as she sings. Great cover and you will definitely enjoy it as well.

N.O.R.E. feat. KiD CuDi 'Floatin in the Sky'

I've only heard CuDi's verse from his "CudderIsBack" mixtape, but I actually searched the song on YouTube and found the full version. I had no idea it was by N.O.R.E., some people feel the full or just love CuDi's part, idk I like the full version, more song to listen to CuDi's voice (lol). So much CuDi, I just wanna rage.

KiD CuDi 'Mojo's So Dope (Official Video)'

I just wanna rageeeeeee. I love you Mr. Rager. A video for the long awaited 'Mojo So Dope' song, you can find this on his "Man on the Moon II: Legend of Mr. Rager" the deluxe edition if you haven't copped it yet (I will soon, I promise ya'll).
