Eblis the Persian Dolphin

Shoutouts to Eblis, the Persian Dolphin, for sending me his music a while back, and I owe you an apology for waiting so long to post your stuff. I've been super lazy about updating this, but I checked out that youtube and I love it. I'm still going through all the songs to figure out which one is my favorite, but all the beats are incredible. They're just so easy to get lost in, and you just sit there listening to the sounds and you have to listen to another and another and another one. A little about Eblis, he is a 16 year old out of the Seattle, Washington area trying to get his music out to a wider listening group. Most of his songs are beats/instrumentals without someone singing or rapping over them to give off that lost in thought kind of vibe I was describing. He is also apart of a group STK (Star Trek) made up of photographers, editors, etc. I seriously look forward to hearing more of your music, and if there's a download link or mixtape I'll definitely post it so everyone can have a little Eblis on their playlists.

Area 'Welcome to Hell (feat. T.D.K.)'

This isn't a new track, but I've been bumping it more lately because it's just that amazing all around. The beat and the flows by Area and T.D.K. all match up and I am digging both of their verses as well. I think it was a great move to add that reversed part to end the song, it's a nice final touch to the song. I highly recommend checking out 'Welcome to Hell' by AreaBDK or Area if you're looking for a track to get into his music. I think compared to his 2nd official mixtape (I'm pretty sure it was), "2 Fingers" has a much better production than "The Debut" and you can see the change in lyrical content from both mixtapes. It's interesting to see Area's progress in the music game, you can catch him performing from time to time out here in New England. He's had a pretty recent performance at Toad's Place in CT, who knows, maybe Area will be a name you here more and more in the music game. Here's another prep school rapper (who I also know personally) trying to grind out here. Take a listen to 'Welcome to Hell' and download that "2 Fingers" mixtape and be on the lookout to some brand new music from Area I believe later this month.

Soulja Boy 'Say She Luv Me (feat. Chief Keef)'

I know you're probably looking at the title like "Soulja Boy?" and it's only because it's his song, but he only spits one verse and gets obliterated on the track by newcomer Chief Keef. As of late, Keef has been my new favorite artist, and after hearing his "I Don't Like" song (featuring Lil Reese) I just had to hear more from him. Maybe it's the fact that Keef is fairly young (I was told like 17), from the Midwest area (Chicago to be exact) and he's just so gritty on the mic that attracts me to his music. I've heard comparisons to Lil B and Waka Flocka in terms of Keef's music, and I just think he's his own person with his own style. I saw an interview somebody did with Chief Keef and he seems not shy, but he's not an attention seeker. He's not doing this for the fame, and it seems like he doesn't like it when people run up to him in public places asking for pictures and what not. I just wish him the best and I hope he keeps bringing the heat and banging out some dope music. Oh and he and Riff Raff are working on a music video coming out sometime next week I believe.

A$AP Rocky "LiveLoveA$ap (Mixtape)"

So I've heard about Harlem's own, A$AP Rocky, a minute back, but I wasn't proactive to put him on here before he really started to blow up. He recently signed a 3 million dollar deal to Polo Grounds (don't know much about the record label), and has been heating up the internet lately with a nice fanbase one that includes myself. I may not know much about the rap game and all its details, but I don't think we've really heard many rappers representing Harlem since the Diplomats were heavy on the scene. A$AP looks to blend that Southern (Texas mainly) trill lifestyle and his Harlem world to create a sound of music that is unique and different than other rappers out there. He recently dropped his "LiveLoveA$ap" mixtape which is definitely a banger, and if this is your first interaction with A$ap then please listen to 'Purple Swag' just a little something to check out and then listen to his other tracks. One of my new favorites is 'Bass' which I'll leave here for ya'll to listen and download. Recognize his name, A$AP.

JMSN 'Alone (Official Video)'

I haven't really been posting much (totally my fault my loyal subscribers and The Brat Writes enthusiasts), but I do have a little something to hopefully make up for that. It's a song called 'Alone' by a guy who goes by JMSN, I don't know much about the guy, but I do plan on doing a little more research to give ya'll, but here is an official explanation of his video 'Alone' that he puts on his website: "Everything we do revolves around this something we want and its a constant battle.

We take medication and whatever else we can get to not think about the future and not worry if we’re getting back what we put in. Because more often than not we aren’t." (Read the rest here)I am After reading the explanation it just adds an extra like deep aspect to the video that you can already tell from watching (I'm sure that sentence made no sense lol). I'm definitely digging JMSN's voice and the content on this song, I've heard a few places that he sounds like another up and coming artist, The Weeknd, but I don't really see it, but hey thats just me. I like what he's doing here and I look forward to hearing more of JMSN's music.

Cam Meekins "Blazed & Confused (Mixtape)"

Cam Meekins, if you've never heard of him take a second while I put you onto him, he's a rapper out of the Massachusetts area, so shoutouts to the 413 and other area codes in Mass (lol). I've heard a couple of his freestyles and songs from Cam on his YouTube and I was impressed with his style and after hearing this 6 track mixtape entitled "Blazed & Confused" I'm thoroughly delighted by it. I wasn't totally sure what to expect, but Cam really did put his all into this tape and I hope you all are able to see the hard work that he's putting in as he gets deeper into the rap game. My favorite song off of "Blazed & Confused" would have to be 'Purple' at the moment. The song feels so real and he's really telling a story through his rhymes on this song and it's what really attracts me to the song. STOP SLEEPING ON CAM MEEKINS.

Manny X 'I Just Want To Know'

I first just want to apologize to my guy Manny X because he sent me his music like a while ago and I've been wild slow and late with posting it on here, but the wait is over. Manny X you've probs heard of him, but for those who haven't he is a singer/songwriter/producer/what can't the man do musically representing Puerto Rico and currently living here in the states. Manny X's track, 'I Just Want To Know' is a gorgeous song that displays his piano playing skills along with his soothing voice singing about that love that is no longer in your life and reminiscing on the moments shared and if her new love does the things Manny has done for her now. I enjoy how there really isn't any other instruments or any other effects or what have you in the background that takes away from the beautifulness of the song and his voice. His range is nicely shown in this love song and a great starter song for people to hear and then wanna check out more from the up and comer Manny X. He already has many songs, released a couple albums and has his music everywhere and has fans not just in the US but also internationally based. I deff suggest Manny X to anyone out there that wants to hear some good R&B music sung by someone of real talent.

Ejaaz 'Just A Kid (Prod. by @BoogieKazamm)'

New music from a young up and comer by the name of Ejaaz the Spazz or Ejazz for short representing Indiana to the fullest. From this track I can tell Nap Town is home to some dope artists just waiting to get the shine that they deserve. The song 'Just A Kid' displays Ejaaz's talents on the mic over a Boogie Kazamm beat. 'Just A Kid' is something of a laid back track, yet Ejaaz still manages to go hard and drop some crazy lines that will have you quoting for the rest of the day. I'm looking forward to hearing more from him in the future, I'm especially digging his voice. It's just something about it that is different than other people that rap, and it adds something new to his rapping. If you like the beat the I highly suggest you check out more stuff done by my guy Boogie Kazamm.

VenoM 'Know Now (feat. Chief)'

VenoM, a rapper out of the Cali area, and his style blends laid back and dope rhymes to create something unique and completely his own. At the young age of 20, VenoM looks to prove to his fans that he has the talent and wants to bring something different to the music industry that goes against traditional rap music of today. The song 'Know Now' featuring Chief on the hook, has a relaxing beat with VenoM To quote, "VenoM is all about releasing your imagination and not letting popular culture get the best of you," so enjoy and and let VenoM take control. If you want to hear more of VenoM I HIGHLY suggest that you check out his other music, like him on Facebook and deff show your love and support by sharing his music with your friends.

Nino_AM 'Ambitious Mind'

Nino_AM, an up and coming rapper out of the 860 (that's Connecticut for those of you who aren't hip to us yet), and he's looking to take over the music game and by the sound of his music his future looks promising. Nino_AM brings something smooth and different to the rap/hip hop game. He doesn't rap about the usual like most mainstream artists nowadays, but something that makes you think. You can listen to Nino's music from song to song and not get tired of it, and his song 'Ambitious Mind' is an example of that. The song samples the instrumental to KiD CuDi's song 'Trapped in my Mind' and Nino did his thing on the track and create something he can call his own. I can see Nino blowing up in the future and it's so nice to see someone with real rhymes ready to do something big.

Daveed 'Letting Go'

I'm on a roll with the Mid West artists now. Daveed another rapper out of the Minnesota area who's looking to take over the game. He posts, "I want to be a real person when it comes to my music. I don't want to create someone that has it all together as an artist, but behind the mic is someone thats hurting." Daveed first picked up the mic to start rhyming at the age of 14 which sparked his interest in hip hop and perfecting his skill. Still giving his fans some hot music, Daveed is releasing a new mixtape titled, "Say What's Real" in May of 2011. After hearing this dope track 'Letting Go' I can only imagine that this new mixtape will be great. This song has a dope beat, and the chorus which talks about letting go of your problems for the night and just have fun, and do you. Another reason I like the song is Daveed's approach to the song, and the message behind it. The only bad part about the song is that it ends. I already listened to the songs he put up on his Facebook band page, and they all display his talents on the mic. I wish him the best, and be on the look out for his "Say What's Real" mixtape.

Sweezer B. 'IDGAF! (Prod. Beaker)'

Just saw this track and I had to see what it was about. I've never heard of the guy Sweezer B beforehand but what I can tell you about this song is that it's fresh. So I went and looked him up and I see he does have a nice fan base, and already dropped a tape called "The Ugly Troof" and one called "24 Hours Till Reality" which I'll download and check out and possibly post it up with a review of it for ya'll to read and download. I looked up some info on Sweezer B and he's a rapper out of the Minneapolis, Minnesota area (shoutouts to the Mid West), and is actually only a couple year older than me. He's been doing his thing on the mic at least since he was 14 years old which has given him plenty of time to work on his skills and create something the people will be craving for. The song 'IDGAF!' (you can guess what it stands for), has a hot beat and Sweezer drops some nice punchlines to create an amazing sounding track produced by Beaker. I'm deff gonna check out some more songs by him and I hope you guys do the same.

T-Pain 'Motivated (feat. Case)' [Motivated Contest]

If you haven't heard, T-Pain has/had not sure if it's still going on, but there's this contest he put out for people to spit a verse to his unfinished song 'Motivated' and if you win the contest then he'll feature you on his upcoming mixtape or album something along those lines. I haven't really been paying much attention to this contest, until now. I stumbled upon this guy by the name of Case and heard his remix to the song, and I think you all should hear what he offered to the song. The song 'Motivated' itself sounds great, and I honestly can't wait to hear the finished version, and hopefully Case will be the guy featured on that track. He's an up and coming rapper out the Canada, and a self proclaimed photographer, rapper, singer and producer. Don't sleep on this kid or you'll miss his name up in lights.

Theo Martins 'Lo-Fi Love (Produced by $port)'

Theo Martins, a musician hailing out of the Rhode Island area and owner of The R.e.d. Ballon (Really Extraordinary Dreams), is continuing to build up steam and gain more lovers of his music as he releases more and more new songs. He's been getting his name around the music scene atleast since 2008, and has been dropping mixtapes that showcase his works as well. This song, 'Lo-Fi Love' was created after his recent trip to Zambia in South Africa and the feelings and sights he witnessed while on that trip. The song has one of those classic beats (kinda sounds sampled? maybe, maybe not), and you can tell by his voice that the feelings he felt were real and really impacted his life. The song isn't one of those high energy rap songs, but almost like a poem with a musical backdrop that helps you to understand what Theo Martins experienced during that trip to Zambia.

Emilio Rojas 'H.A.M. (Freestyle)'

Emilio Rojas a rapper hailing out of the New York area releases a hot freestyle to the song 'H.A.M.' by Kanye West and Jay-Z that is to appear on their upcoming album. The song in general is good, but I think Emilio put in work on the song and killed it. I've never heard any of his songs before hand, but I have heard of him and I like what he did on this song. I can definitely see Emilio really cracking in the mainstream light, and tracks like this prove that he has what it takes. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing some of his original stuff to see if he brings the same intensity to those tracks like he did here. He has a mixtape recently dropped called, "Life Without Shame" for those interested in hearing more Emilio Rojas tracks.

ShiGGa Shay feat. Valentina Chua 'Coming Home (Remix)'

ShiGGa Shay a up and coming teen rapper out of Singapore has been doing his thing musically for quite some time now, and I heard/watched a video of him for one of his songs on another site, and I just caught this one he did over Diddy-Dirty Money's 'Coming Home' song. I've heard a few remixes to the song, but none really stand out to me like this one. Valentina Chua does a great job doing a cover over the chorus of the song, and ShiGGa Shay brings it home with his verses. My only complaint would be the sound of his voice, it has this "I need to clear my throat" kind of sound to it, but still a good go at remixing the song. ShiGGa has a mixtape out called "ShiGGa Shay's in the Building (The Mixtape)" so I recommend you all go out and download that if you like what he did on 'Coming Home' and would like to hear some original stuff that he has. Just listening to some of his stuff, he sounds like he has some great promise, and I wish the best of luck to him and his music career.

Mike Jaggerr "The Eleventh Hour (Mixtape)" Hosted By DJ Wonder

On this lucky(?) day January 11th, 2011 or 1/11/11, up and comer Mike Jaggerr has dropped his highly anticipated mixtape, "The Eleventh Hour" hosted by DJ Wonder. After listening to his song 'Away' (Track 4) I have high hopes for Mr. Jaggerr and I can't wait to hear some more of his music to finally get a more well rounded view of what he can do musically. I've heard the song 'Cruise Control' featuring Big KRIT a few days ago, and I like it, but it hasn't won me completely over yet. I'm getting ready to download the mixtape and I hope you all do, and let me know what you all think of it! Here's a sample of one of the songs on the mixtape called 'Shades.'

Mike Jaggerr 'Away (Clean Version)'

I just found this song, and it is incredible. It's another one of those calmer, deep rap songs that tell a story in it. The guy behind it goes by the name of Mike Jaggerr (sounds faintly similar to Mick Jagger now doesn't it? lol) and he has been seeing some more shine and buzz as of late because of his upcoming mixtape "The 11th Hour" coming out January 11th. In the song he describes his want to get away from all of this sadness that he's faced in his life, and how he will be able to get away from it all in the end. I enjoy the beat, and the rapping over it blends so well and the story he paints will surely get you nodding your head and really listening to what he has to say. Just listening to this song is a great indication of what he has to offer, and apparently the music video is in the works for this song and I am looking forward to seeing it. Be on the look out for Mike Jagger in 2011.

Carlos St. John "In Association" Mixtape

A Christmas gift from me to you all. The long awaited Carlos St. John "In Association" Mixtape has finally arrived, and just in time for Christmas. For the past few months I've been giving you guys an incredible new track each Tuesday (dubbed Carlost St. John Day) and the mixtape which features each track along with three, yea THREE new songs by Carlos. The two songs are 'Welcome to Real Life' and '12 Flights Up,' along with the finished cuts of 'Hands' and 'Hustler 2.2' (the final "In Association" series track), and as I suspected the final track of 'Hustler 2.2' was a sample of another song. There are 14 songs on the mixtape, and if you want to read my personal opinions on the songs you can check out previous St. John posts here. All in all, if you doubted Mr. St. John before, you won't after you've heard this mixtape, and if that still doesn't win you over or you are a fan and want more music, download his first mixtape "The St. John Portfolio."

'Welcome To Real Life' is one of those real/reflection songs where Carlos gets serious on the track especially in the chorus. It's almost like the struggle that goes with the music industry, and what he's accomplished so far, "I laugh through the stained glass knowing that I own 100% of my Dame Dash/That's creative control lame a**"

'The Brook' I just figured it out, it's short for Brooklyn because as we all know this is Brooklyn's James Bond. The song is more of a track for his hometown of Brooklyn and all that comes in and out of Brooklyn. So if you're from Brooklyn make sure you bump this.

'12 Flights Up' the final track on the mixtape is the outro track and he's pretty much thanking us (The Stockholders) for coming along this ride with him. Him being 12 flights up is another kind of reflection track where he's wondering what direction/where to go next from here. "The money goes fast/the life goes fast/you speedin' through the lights and the lights don't flash" is just one line from the chorus.

Palermo Stone 'Beautiful Music'

The video for this song just captures me, the different scenes, tones, it all just blends so well together along with the song. The chorus is another one of those kind of inspirational songs where it just motivates you to do whatever it is you're trying to accomplish. Palermo Stone, also a type of stone commonly used to inscribe on by the Egyptians, but in this case I'm referring to the rapper/singer, looks to display the struggle and battles he (or up and coming rappers in general) face as they look to make it in this music industry. He raps about him coming up from nothing in order to make something of himself and his music. You can download the album that includes 'Beautiful Music' along with many other dope tracks by Palermo Stone down below. Listen and watch his journey with this 'Beautiful Music.'
